There is all kinds of exciting things we want to happen in the open source lab. Some ideas:
Get a static IP for serverGet DNS name for serverCreate a roster of OSL/CS club members and their experience with various technologies- Have code sessions
- Host student projects. Simply ask the club and you can get set up with a subversion code repository and a trac project management site
Gaming party! - October 21st- Have install fests of open source software - Linux install fest in planning for Nov
- Document using open source software on UST campus (MyStorage, email settings, etc.) - Underway!
- Respin a custom live CD/DVD
- Mirror open source software for really fast on campus downloads
Upgrade OSL network to gigabit for really really fast downloads- Have a schedule: be open certain times
- Pointers to existing documention, online and at the libraries
- Develop test suites for programming assignments as a service for students

Tech roster via profiles
With the site up and taking user registrations, the user profiles can be where we put the technology experience.
Not only could this be good for knowing what everybody is good at, but if we would offer services to the wider community we would know who to contact.
Member profile functionality
OK some new terms have been added to each of our user profiles. There's general info stuff and then there's a "Technical Profile" area which is geared toward this club roster/technical proficiency idea.
You can check out all the stuff with your profile by clicking "my account" in the left hand navigation pane when you are logged in. We can place this roster in a more prominent place if people start latching on to the idea. The OSL page is gradually coming together, so we can see if we want to incorporate this into its evolution or not.
Mine has most of the fields filled out so... if you're a member and wondering what a filled out profile would look like check mine. Any suggestions for more fields are welcome :)
Live
My personal distro of choice, Fedora, is working on a live CD generator. Could be useful.
Internet2!
UST is actually Internet2 connected (via U of M)! You may have heard IRT announcing this, mostly with some video conference application.
I have confirmed that we can download our open source software from GTlib!
